Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile permissions

Connect your Google Business Profile location to the platform to access metrics, review replies, and content planning.

Permission types

Google Business Profile has two roles:

  • Owner. There is only one primary owner.

  • Manager

In most cases, both roles can connect the location to the platform. Due to API changes from Google, the Manager role may not be enough for some accounts to connect or access all metrics.

To add, remove, or edit user access, you need an Owner. See this article from Google Help for more details.

How to verify permissions

Log in to your Google account and follow these steps:

  1. Open your locations by clicking here, then click View your profile on the location you want to check.

You can also open the top menu and select Business Profile Manager from the dropdown.

  1. Click the three dots and select Business Profile Settings.

  2. Click People and access to see the list of users and their permission levels.

No locations are listed?

If you get the message "We have not found any locations related to this account", try this:

  • Make sure you are signed in with the correct Google email account.

  • If you have a Manager role, request an Owner role and try again.

How to request access to a profile managed by someone else

Here is how to request permissions:

  1. Go to the listing creation page through this link.

Enter the business name in the search field. You should see a dropdown with existing listings in Google's database. Select the correct location.

  1. Request access.

Google will confirm that the listing belongs to another email address.

If the email address is yours, log in and you will be able to access the listing. If you have lost access to that email account, follow the Google account recovery guide.

If the email address is not yours, click the Request access button.

  1. Fill in the form.

Google will ask for details such as your name, phone number, the level of access you need, and your relationship to the company.

After you submit the form, the account holder managing the listing has three days to approve or reject your request.

If you do not receive a response, you may be allowed to claim it yourself. Open the GBP dashboard and look for the option to claim your business.

Google grants full access to your new listing seven days after you become the new owner.
